CEO Clay Koplin Receives Top Alaska Power Association Award
In August, CEO Clay Koplin was awarded the Alaska Power Association (APA) Mason LaZelle Achievement Award, which is APA’s highest honor. Clay was nominated by CEC Board Chair Joe Cook. The following is a description provided by APA:
Koplin received the association’s highest honor this year. He has spent his career not only advancing the fortunes of his own electric cooperative and community, but also applying his leadership to help bring about positive change at electric utilities outside his community. During his more than 30-year career, Koplin has saved his members millions of dollars per year through technological innovation and the foresight to apply new methods and strategies in his small community. An active participant in national and regional boards and committees, Koplin has also brought the spotlight to his town through conferences and events that highlight successes electric utilities around the world can learn from. For his community, he has also donated what little free time he has left to get involved and work for his friends and neighbors. This includes previously serving as the mayor of Cordova.
